Heavenly Wisdom & It’s Cascading Effects- DR. ROD MILLS

This morning in prayer, a spirit of repentance came over me and sorrow for my own sin and others’ sin. I wasn’t aware of a particular sin that I had committed; but a great awareness came over me of sin which I was not aware or could not see.  As I was looking over the land and the nation in the Spirit, I saw that there are actions of obedience that each person could have made, that were like strategic dominos, effecting far greater results over a period of time, than anyone on earth could imagine.

There were times and places in each person’s life where they missed the mark. And what they thought was a small sin or perhaps a large sin that didn’t really affect anyone else, was a missed opportunity for obedience that would have had cascading results in numerous lives over a period of years. The spirit of repentance upon me was intensified by the Holy Spirit as I saw these things.

“Lord, have mercy on us where we have missed the mark. We repent and turn to You, asking You to grace us with simple obedience in areas where we have not paid attention or where we have devalued faithfulness toward You in small things in our lives, as well as large things.”

After I prayed the prayer of repentance, I sensed the Holy Spirit’s Presence tenderizing my heart toward the peace and gentleness of God, to seek His will in purity with a deep willingness to yield to His agenda and plans. God’s Spirit inspires and equips us to divine obedience that has profound effects in this life and eternity. Most people in the world would not consider this to be wisdom. But James tells us that this is exactly what heavenly wisdom is all about.  James 3:17 (NKJV): “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.”  As I considered all these things and turned my heart toward repentance, yielding to God, and His gentleness, I could see the Lord resetting strategic dominos (opportunities for obedience) in many areas of life. These are areas where simple obedience is like touching a key domino that in turn produces a chain reaction of events with cascading effects.  Like a parent with a small child, He woos us to just touch the domino, take the action of obedience, do it and see what happens! Again and again, He is resetting the dominos as He calls us to the ancient path and practice of heavenly wisdom.

I could hear His voice like impressions upon my soul and spirit, “Touch it, take the step of faith, do it! You may think it’s small, but in time, it will have an unknown cascading effect that touches and transforms more lives than you can imagine.”
