The Beauty Of Divine Aquatecture- Dr. Rod Mills

As I was sitting outside under the covering of a Gazebo in prayer and meditation with the Lord in Hawaii, I was amazed at how God created Oahu‘s watering system. On a normal day in Oahu, it rains about 2 billion gallons of water. 1/3 of this water runs off into the ocean. 1/3 of this water is soaked up by the trees and vegetation, and 1/3 of this water sinks into the aquifer, deep below the island.
It takes 25 years for each raindrop to seep through the volcanic filtering system into the aquifer. It is some of the purest, most filtered water on earth. This means that on a normal day, God designed this system to replenish the aquifer with approximately 665 million gallons of water. (In one day!)

However, it’s important to note that it is absolutely essential to maintain this aquifer by keeping healthy forestation and vegetation. (Trees help draw and store rainwater.) In the late 19th century, so much of the island was deforested for farmland that the aquifer was severely depleted. They had to plant many trees in order to replenish the aquifer. The native trees grow so slowly that they had to also plant many nonnative species such as eucalyptus, ironwood, silk oak, and Norfolk pine trees. As it rains on the mountains today, God designed His creation to provide pure drinking water for the next generation, 25 years from now. With about 1 million people living on the island, Hawaii says they require approximately 150 million gallons of water per day.

I see a beautiful, spiritual picture in this divinely designed “aquatecture.” I believe that God‘s people are “trees of righteousness” (Isaiah 61:3) that draw the waters of heaven and collect God‘s provision of the water of His word in spiritual aquifers, that provide healthy spiritual refreshment, nourishing, & cleansing for the next generation, (even 25 years from now and beyond).  This ecosystem is a work of art by our Creator, and a beautiful dance of His creation—both spiritually and physically.  I pray that this beautiful art/dance, will be an inspiration for us to grow and cultivate our lives as trees of righteousness, strong trees of His planting, to draw near to God, and to seek Him to deliver the water of His word.

Isaiah 61:3 (NKJV): “…That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”
James 4:8 (NKJV): “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.”
Psalm 68:8–9 (NKJV): “The earth shook; The heavens also dropped rain at the presence of God; Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel. 9  You, O God, sent a plentiful rain, Whereby You confirmed Your inheritance, When it was weary.”
Ephesians 5:26 (NKJV): “That (Christ) might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word.”
Deuteronomy 11:13–21 (NKJV): “And it shall be that if you earnestly obey My commandments which I command you today, to love the Lord your God and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul, 14 then I will give you the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil. 15 And I will send grass in your fields for your livestock, that you may eat and be filled.’ 16 Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be deceived, and you turn aside and serve other gods and worship them, 17 lest the Lord’s anger be aroused against you, and He shut up the heavens so that there be no rain, and the land yield no produce, and you perish quickly from the good land which the Lord is giving you. 18 Therefore you shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 19 You shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. 20 And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, 21 that your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land of which the Lord swore to your fathers to give them, like the days of the heavens above the earth.”
