Transformation Of The Amaryllis- Rylee Morris

4/2/2024

The Lord has been speaking to me in a very soft and subtle way recently; one prominent way is the transformation He is revealing through creation. I believe this same type of transformation has happened, is happening, and will continue to happen in all of us. The flower you see accompanying this writing is an amaryllis.

Consider the transformative and consistent cycle it goes through as you continue reading. It’s a gorgeous flower that is a perennial herbaceous bulb that people often plant in late fall to bloom in the home over winter. It will release many blooms once it begins growing and its season of growth and blooming is quite long.

However, once it stops blooming and the end of the growing season has come (usually around the beginning of September), it must be pruned to the head of the bulb, have its roots trimmed, and be put into cold, dark conditions for about 8-10 weeks. Then it can be replanted at the end of fall or beginning of winter and follow that cycle year after year. Notice the beauty that is faithfully released from the amaryllis despite having been thrust into harsh conditions for weeks; and remember that it needs that period of dormancy in order to prepare and be able to reach its potential for the next season. The transformation this plant goes through is truly remarkable.

Now also remember when looking at it, that plant cells are very basic compared to human cells; our cells are so much more complex. Yet take a look at the obedient amaryllis and consider all the things it goes through year after year and how beautiful it is; how we look at it with such admiration. Imagine the complex process it goes through to bring forth such awe-striking beauty. Consider how much more capable and beautiful we are in the eyes of God. Contemplate all the things inside of you that can be brought forth and created because of the complexity of your system. All that you see in the pictures of this gorgeous flower comes from a bulb, soil, water, and light. Imagine how much more capable you are than the amaryllis; how much more beautiful, how much more cared for, and how much more full of potential. I encourage you to let the Holy Spirit flow today and show you these things that He has made in you. Perhaps, create the things that He has placed in the sacred spaces of your heart where the Holy Spirit dwells and whispers to you. Explore them with your kids and families as well. He is so good, and you are fearfully and wonderfully made.
